Biography:
As the new year of 1991 rang through Kim Minsu’s father was landing in Moscow, Russia after a long flight from Korea. He was all set for a semester abroad of study as part of a cultural exchange program and as he was shown to his dorm from the airport, assuring the guide he was used to the cold he had little idea what was in store for him. It was in his third week that he met a beautiful Eurasian girl and he would often tell Minsu it took a total of ten hours to fall in love with her. Needless to say one semester turned into the rest of his degree and after only a year of dating the pair were married. Minsu’s arrival followed relatively soon after, emerging into the world in April of 1993 just as the flowers hit their full bloom.

He was only one year old when his parents graduated from university and his father was offered a job back in Seoul and it didn’t take them long to decide to accept the position and move their entire life half a world away. It was pleasant at first; Minsu’s father building a good reputation and his mother working part-time to give her freedom and some extra income. For a couple who married so soon after meeting they were still madly in love. But then disaster struck. In June of 1995 Minsu and his mother were caught in the Sampoong Department Store collapse. The authorities were to find a screaming toddler pinned under the weight of his mother and debris. Minsu suffered nothing more than a broken leg; his mother was dead.

For a long while Minsu’s father felt the destruction from losing his soul mate and the boy has very little memories of them together as a child. But at the age of ten his father met another woman, who though didn’t stay long in their lives brought the man back to life. Minsu’s teenage years were much brighter and more loving and he soon began to flourish and wedge his own path in life. Having been enrolled in international schools by his father’s doing Minsu learnt much about the world and found himself drawn to its history. While other boys were out playing sports and meeting girls he was at the local library, pouring over books from all corners of the globe and trying to memorise as many facts as possible. That’s not to say he didn’t receive any of his own attention though; his teenage years saw him grow into his looks and his foreign blood struck people’s interest. Minsu never understood it however, and his appearance was quickly put aside when chat up lines came in the form of historical facts.

His father only ever encouraged his interests, after all in him flowed the blood of the woman he loved most, and Minsu considers himself relatively well travelled. Every few years the pair would return to Russia to visit his grandparents, and on these trips they usually spread their wings to the rest of Europe, the boy lapping up the long historical backgrounds of each country they visited. No matter where it was in the world he would spend long hours browsing museums and in Korea he is still the first in line to visit new exhibits.

When it came time for university he applied to several all around the world, being accepted into Oxford in England. Unfortunately his story was not to be a repeat of his father’s and at the end of his first year he received a phone call to say that the man had been involved in a workplace accident. It was severe enough to need assistance in recovery and around the house and so Minsu transferred to Yonsei and returned to Seoul to start his sophomore year. It only made sense that someone as academic as him pledged to the Beta Chi Theta house, although for that year he stayed living off campus at his father’s place. At the end of the year when his father was well enough to look after himself and return to work Minsu made the executive decision to see through the rest of his degree at Yonsei and moved into the Beta Chi house.
